At InterCurrency, we share with you some useful insights on investment opportunities, tools and vehicles. Information provided are true to the best of our knowledge as at the time of publication.

Among other things, we present:

  • Investment groups/clubs, savings and credit groups (including self help groups)
  • Real estate including REIT-S
  • Treasury bills and/or government bonds
  • MSMEs (micro, small and medium enterprises) especially agribusiness (featuring horticulture, plantation farming, agroforestry, sh.oats and poultry farming)
  • We also provide support in the writing of business and project plans, starting/registering and operating MSMEs, and conveyance (real estate).

Whereas investment groups will ensure that individuals pool their efforts and reach necessary minimum levels of savings for tangible investments within the shortest time possible, savings & credit (self help groups) ensures that members can borrow save and lend among themselves to finance key activities in individuals’ lives. The minimum of KES 100,000 needed to invest in Kenyan treasury bills gets attained within a short time while the KES 50,000 needed for the tuition fees is easily secured.

With REIT-S, even small amounts of money can be committed to real estate investment with regular annual returns and with time (once one has accumulated adequate capital) bigger investment in real estate (urban plots for construction of rental units, educational institutions, health facilities; or big parcels of agricultural land in rural areas for plantation farming) are possible.

Treasury bills and government bonds (see summarised information below) will fit the investment desires of the risk averse investors content with approximately 10% p.a. rate of return while micro, small and medium sized enterprises (MSMEs) promise 20 – 30% rates of return for those who are ready to take higher risks and put in the necessary extra effort. Population in the developing and transition economies maintains an upward growth trend, herewith comes challenges to be solved which in actual sense means market for creative MSMEs.

In the Swahili language of the East African people, the saying goes, “akili ni nywele, kila mtu ana zake” and this is to say, each one has a thinking capacity. InterCurrency will catalyse your thought processes and where necessary, link you up with like-minded persons so as to realize your dreams. We cordially invite you to get in touch with us with a view to discussing how best we can support you.
